One of the most famous Carnivals on the Costa Blanca North is the one in Pego. This charming and traditional Spanish town throws itself wholeheartedly into the holiday and the celebrations even start a week beforehand with the “Baixada del RiuBullent”, a fun activity which involves a race along the river in motorless boats made by the participants themselves… in fancy dress!
Pego is ideally located 100 km from Alicante and 90km from Valencia. Famous for its olive groves, orange plantations and rice fields, this beautiful medieval town has its origins in the 13th Century, and is today a centre for historical exploration, mountaineering, walking and wildlife. Pego is a little hidden gem sandwiched between orange groves, marshes and nine mountain ranges.
